Canada Student Loans Program Guide

by John Stevenson

Canada Student Loans Program provides support in the form of money to students that need it. This is for post secondary students. These people must apply for a territorial or provincial loan firstly. Once this has been done, they automatically qualify for a Canada Student Loan. These loan application forms are available from the provincial offices as well as offices in educational institutions. Yearly renewal of application for grants is required for the student to continue receiving money in order to start.

Proof that enrollment has taken place over the preceding six months will be required. Providing this proof enables the student to study interest free. The enrollment documentation is given out at offices of educational bodies.

More comprehensive information will be provided through the Canadian student loans service center. In terms of the repayment of the defaulted student loans, it will turn out to be the responsibility of the Canada revenue agency. This type of loan would not be provided to a single independent student.

A single dependent student qualifies for this kind of loan. This means the student must be financially dependant on his or her parents, a sponsor, a relative or a guardian. Students that have left high school longer than four years ago or have been working for twenty-four concurrent months.

Someone who has legal custody of a minor is considered a single parent student. This is the case whether he or she has ever been married.

A single parent student is someone who has legal custody of a minor. This is regardless of whether they have ever been married or not. To qualify for this loan, students need to be Citizens of Canada, a protected person or a permanent resident. Obviously, the student must reside in an area that issues these loans. Furthermore there must be evidence of financial need and, must be enrolled in a certificate, degree or diploma program that is at least twelve weeks long. The secondary institution must be designated as well.

A credit check will be performed on students that are first time applicants and who are twenty two years or older. Those that have received a loan are obliged to maintain certain grades. One cannot exceed three hundred and forty weeks of aid in full time study. There may be a few exceptions to this rule when it comes to Canada Student Loans Program. - 41115
